Instructors

Head Instructor: Teresa Yamada

I started Judo when I was 12 and then, in the late 80s, continued my training at the University of Lethbridge, where I competed for the U of L Judo Team and the Alberta Senior Provincial Team for 3 years. I am a 2nd degree Black Belt, Judo Canada Certified Coach with a current Level II NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) – Certified Dojo Instructor, and a current Red Cross First Aid course. While in Lethbridge, my Sensei was Dr. Yoshio Senda (1922-2009), and it is my goal to continue to pass on the principles of judo that he taught me. The most important of these principles are: have a good attitude in whatever you do, learn to be humble and thankful, never give up, and most importantly, always have fun.

Dojo Assistant Instructor : Kellen Antoniuk

I started my judo journey in 2022 at Ryu Senshi Judo Club and earned my brown belt in 2026. My introduction to judo came through providing medical coverage at several tournaments, where I quickly developed an interest in the sport and decided to step onto the mat myself.

In April 2026, I completed the NCCP Dojo Assistant course and am currently working toward completing my certification. I’m also a Certified Athletic Therapist and hold a Sports First Responder certification. Before discovering judo, I was involved in a variety of sports, including soccer, football, and Australian Rules football. I’m excited to continue learning and growing in judo while helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone on the mat.
